Frequently Asked Questions

Can epoxy be used on bathroom floors and on sinks, showers, and tubs?

Yes—with the right system and prep. For floors, we mechanically prep, repair, and install a multi‑coat epoxy/polyaspartic or urethane topcoat. For fixtures (porcelain, fiberglass, acrylic, tile), we deep clean, de‑gloss, repair chips, apply an adhesion primer, then coat and clear. We add texture in wet zones for safety and seal transitions with flexible caulk.

How long does it last??

Floors: Typically 10–20 years residential and 5–10 years commercial with proper prep and maintenance. Fixtures: 5–10 years is common for refinished tubs/showers/sinks, depending on prep, water quality, cleaning habits, and daily use. Avoid abrasives to maximize life.

Is it slippery or safe in wet areas??

Dry epoxy is similar to sealed concrete; water and soaps can make any surface slick. We can add traction aggregates (silica or aluminum oxide) and use matte/satin topcoats in showers and near sinks/tubs. Bath mats and good drainage design further improve safety.

What’s the install and cure time??

Floors: Most installs finish in 1–4 days depending on the project; light foot traffic in 24 hours, vehicle traffic in 48 hours, full cure in 7 days. Fixtures: Many refinishes complete the same day; light use after 24 hours; full cure about 5 days. Fast‑cure systems can shorten this; cold temps extend it.

How do I clean and what should I avoid?

Use pH‑neutral cleaners, soft mops/sponges, and rinse well. Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders, steam, and harsh solvents or citrus/vinegar. For sinks/tubs, don’t pour boiling water directly and avoid hot tools; typical hot tap water is fine. Plan periodic inspections and, if needed, a maintenance recoat in high‑wear areas.
